Obituary

Winifred Newman Lane was born on October 30, 1918, in Shenandoah, Iowa to John W. and Zella Newman. She was the fifth of seven children. Her mother died before she was five and thus lived with her grandparents, Henry and Susan Vickers the years before her marriage.

Winifred married Fred Clay on June 2, 1937. To this union five children were born: Delbert Lee Lane of Barry, TX, Veryl Dean Lane of Colorado Springs, CO, Zella Joan Lane Gerdts of Hortonville, WI, Fred Curtis Lane of Chariton, IA and Lynne Alice Pearson of Corsicana, TX. There are sixteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Winifred lost her husband Fred on December 22, 1986, and moved to Texas where she lived since 1987. She was a farmer's wife, loved to garden, raise chickens and loved her family and Jehovah. She has seen much sorrow but has always had love around her all her life through all the hardships she has seen.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, September 1, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral was in charge of the local arrangements.
