Wilma Ethel (Davey) Turner was born on October 28, 1913 in Lone Rock, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Hazel (Campbell) Davey. Wilma entered into the arms of her Lord on June 4, 2009 following a brief illness in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
Wilma was born and raised in the Shenandoah area where she attended school and graduated from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1931. Shortly after graduation she was united in marriage to Marvin Lewis Turner on May 19, 1931.
The couple made their home in Shenandoah until relocating to Council Bluffs in 1944. While living in Council Bluffs, Wilma worked as a typist for Boy's Town until declining health forced her into retirement at the age of 59. Following heart surgery, Wilma moved to Troy, IL to be near her daughter Carolyn. In 2004 Wilma moved with Carolyn and her husband Dean to Hot Springs Village, AR where she enjoyed her later years.
While living in Council Bluffs, Wilma was active in the Senior Center where she enjoyed playing penny BINGO and cards. She also joined the Senior Center's Square Dance Group and enjoyed dancing and performing at various functions for some 15 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Council Bluffs, Troy, IL and Hot Springs Village, AR. Wilma enjoyed her yearly visits to San Marcos, CA to visit her daughter Stella and husband Melvin and their families. She also enjoyed shopping for hats, watching "The Lawrence Welk Show, "The Price Is Right", "Wheel of Fortune" and soap opera's. Her regular outings with Carolyn and Dean to local restaurants was another highlight of her week.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin L. Turner on July 7, 1976, a son Russell Turner, siblings John L. Davey, Glen A. Davey and Hazel L. Waldron and two granddaughters Cynthia M. Epperson in infancy and Rozalyn R. Doherty.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Carolyn A. Jackson and husband Dean of Hot Springs Village, AR and Stella E. Epperson and husband Melvin of San Marcos, CA; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren with 1 new arrival on the way; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah with Rev. Norman Carter, from Wilma's church in Hot Springs Village officiating. Attending to the memorial register was Wilma's oldest granddaughter Becky Woodward. Special music for the service included "Feel Like Flying Away", "When The Praises Go Up", "Light Up The Sky" and "Amazing Grace". Casket Bearers included Marvin Epperson, Michael Roslund, Dale Tiffey, Leonard Tiffey, Murrell Waldron and Steve Woodward. Burial followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
