Obituary

Wilma Rose (Coy) Maher was born in Cherry Creek, NE on November 25, 1921, the daughter of Roy and Philomena (Adcock) Coy. Wilma entered into eternal peace on March 31, 2010 at the Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Wilma's early years were spent in Cherry Creek, NE until the age of 7 when the family moved to Randolph. There she attended school and graduated from Randolph High School. She played many sports during her high school years and continued her love for sports. Following graduation she attended Peru State Teacher's College where she received her teaching certification. Wilma taught country school for 1 year. On June 3, 1941 she was united in marriage to James Louis "Francis" Maher at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Imogene. The couple was blessed with 34 years of marriage before Francis' passing on January 14,1976.

The couple moved from the farm into Imogene in 1966. They owned and operated the General Store in Imogene for 12 years. Wilma was a hard working and dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed tending to her garden and spent many hours at the stove canning. She enjoyed attending the many activities that her children and grandchildren were involved in, as well as remaining active in her church. She was a dedicated member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She held many offices, she was a true servant to the Lord.

In December of 1999 Wilma moved to Admiral Manor in Farragut. She enjoyed the new friendships and surroundings. For the past six years she has resided at Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Roger, Matthew, and Michael, daughter Mary Morton, brothers Leroy and Tom Coy, sisters-in-law Madge Maher, Helen Maher and Catherine Hughes, and brothers-in-law Jerome, Patrick and Donald Maher.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children Patricia Connelly of San Diego, CA, Robert Maher and wife Jeanne of Russellville, MO, William Maher and Celeste of Treynor, IA, Duane Maher and wife Mary of Omaha, NE, Denise Donnelly and husband Bob of Redmond, OR, Jeremiah Maher and wife Donna of Shenandoah, IA, Douglas Maher and wife Cindi of Poway, CA, Sandra Bugg and husband Darwin of Farragut, IA and David Maher of Farragut, IA; 50 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; daughters-in-law Margaret Maher of Red Oak, IA and Betty Jo Maher of Cotton, MN, sister-in-law Mary Coy of Titusville, FL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
