Bill Hiatt, 55 a lifetime resident of Shenandoah, Iowa passed away unexpectedly at his home.

William Cole Hiatt was born March 28, 1958 at Hand Community Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa to Glen William and Agnes Virginia Hiatt of Randolph, Iowa. At an early age his parents moved to 509 West St, Shenandoah where they resided beyond his school years. He then purchased his farmstead in Fremont County residing there until his death.

Bill began his schooling at Central School and graduated from Shenandoah High School with the class of 1976. He took several college and trade school classes throughout his life. Bill enjoyed participating in team sports beginning in the early years with baseball followed by mustang football and wrestling. Bill was a member of Boy Scout of America troop #218 during which he took part in many community projects and outdoor adventures which included camping and fishing trips. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Shenandoah.

Bill preferred the outdoors: fishing, boating, hunting especially coon hunting. He loved animals and over the years raised numerous types of AKC and UKC dogs: red tick, blue tick, treeing walkers, black & tan hounds, rottweilers, scottish and rat terriers. He competed in jumping mule trials with Sonny, receiving many awards. He had a real passion for buying and restoring Ford Tractors and Chevy Trucks. He enjoyed watching college football and westerns. And before his fathers death 'Bill and Bill' spent many hours side by side.

Bill was a hard worker beginning at an early age as a Sentinel delivery boy, numerous farm hand jobs, commercial fisherman, loaded pop bottle delivery trucks, automotive and small engine repair, and backhoe work. All leading up to and some were overlapping his 30+ years of employment at Eatons Corporation.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Glen W. (Bill) Hiatt and his mother A Virginia Hiatt. He is survived by his 5 sisters: Melinda (Mike) Whisler of Hickman Nebraska, Becky Hiatt of Ames Iowa, Ginger (Paul) Thompson of Rochester Minnesota, Christine Hiatt of Nevada Iowa, and Elizabeth Hiatt of Ames Iowa. 3 nephews: Greg Thompson, Jeff Thompson, Jack Collins and a niece Abby Collins. Bill also had numerous extended family members and friends.
