Obituary

Wilda Lucile (Adelung) Brown was born on October 26, 1925 in Amherst, Nebraska, the daughter of Carl August and Anna Estelline (Peterson) Adelung. Wilda entered into eternal peace on April 3, 2011 at the Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa at the blessed age of 85 years.

Wilda's family farmed in Buffalo County, Nebraska where she attended local schools. She graduated from Miller High School in Nebraska. She worked for a local insurance office before moving to Shenandoah in 1950. On December 26, 1965 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Brown at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Shenandoah. The couple was blessed with 45 years of marriage.

Wilda worked for Townsend Wholesale Grocery and later for All American Rose Selection until her retirement in 1985. In her younger years she enjoyed times spent in the garden with her mother tending to the flower beds. As she grew older her hobbies included stamp collecting, traveling with her husband, spending time with family and friends, and caring for her beloved cats. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Shenandoah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Lois Rolf and Marie Beery; and a brother-in-law Gerald Beery.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband Kenneth Brown of Shenandoah; her niece Vernelle Coffelt of Mission, KS; nephew Brent Beery of Lombard, IL; brother-in-law Richard Rolf of rural Shenandoah; other family and friends.

May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn her loss.
