Obituary

Wayne Gee Polk, 43 was born on August 11, 1977 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska to his parents C. Kevin and Jill R. (Gee) Polk of Glenwood.  Soon after his birth the family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where Wayne attended school at Lincoln Public Schools through the ninth grade.

The family later moved to Madison, Wisconsin area where Wayne completed his high school education at St. John's Northwestern Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin.  It was at this private military and college prep boarding school where Wayne discovered his love for the military, in particular the Army.  During the summer before his senior year, he joined the Wisconsin National Guard and went to Missouri for basic training.  The following summer he received his specialty training with the guard as a hazardous materials truck driver.

Wayne intended to go into the Army as an officer but his ADD disability got the best of him, so he settled on being an enlisted soldier.  His career was short lived, due to Wayne having an issue with his knee.  He received surgery and a medical discharge.

His next 10 years were in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he went to technical school and was married soon after.  Several years later, single again, he started traveling around the country from Colorado to Montana to Georgia where he resided until his death.

Wayne will always be remembered by his charming personality even through he went through a few rough patches in his life.  He lost his battle with COVID-19 on January 20. 2021.

He was preceded in death by his sister Kellie Renee Polk, his grandparents Merris C. and Anne B. Gee and Charles H. and Erma Faye Polk as well as two uncles.  He is survived by his mother Jill Polk of Tacoma, Washington.

Memorials may be directed to the Make a Wish Foundation, an organization close to Wayne's heart.
