Wayne Lindburg Falk, son of Henning Ebenezer and Almiria Fredrika (Lindburg) Falk, was born on December 9, 1914, at rural Nyman, Iowa. He passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2006, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa, following a brief illness at the age of 91.
Wayne lived all his life in the rural Essex and Nyman area. As a youngster he attended Golden Rod Country School through the eighth grade. He graduated from Essex High School with the Class of 1932. Wayne was engaged in farming all of his life. On October 16, 1943, Wayne was united in marriage to Catherine Ann Harris at Emporia, Kansas. To this union two sons were born, Steve and Joe. Wayne loved everything about being a farmer. He especially liked doing field work, feeding cattle and keeping his place neat and tidy. He also enjoyed working and spending time with his dog, Louie. Wayne was a member of the Fremont Lutheran Church at Nyman. He was also a member of the Iowa Farm Bureau.
Preceding Wayne in death were his parents; his wife, Catherine, in 2001; and two sisters, Marjorie Nelson and Maxine Peterson. Survivors include his two sons, Steve Falk, Sr., and his wife Pat of Red Oak, Iowa and Joe Falk and his wife Joyce of Shenandoah, Iowa; five grandchildren, Steve Falk, Jr., and his wife Chris of rural Essex, Iowa, C. J. Hunt of Red Oak, Iowa, Cathy Falk of Denver, Colorado, Chris Falk of Red Oak, Iowa and Jason Falk of Shenandoah, Iowa; four great grandchildren; one sister, Lavose Trier of Anniston, Alabama; one nephew; two nieces; other relatives and many friends.
Celebration of Life memorial services were held on Thursday, January 19, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Words of comfort were given by the Rev. Gail Woods. Inurnment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah.
