Wayne Andrew Briggs was born in Shenandoah on July 8 ^th 1928 to Ethel Norma (Beck) and Clyde Briggs.  Wayne passed into eternal peace on Tuesday, February 22,2022 at Windsor Manor, Shenandoah, Iowa.

Wayne grew up in Shenandoah and served in the U.S. Army right after WWII in Japan.  He married Betty Louise Swanson in 1948 and had two children, Vicki Ann (Briggs) LePorte and Michael Wayne.

He was a pressman at the World Publishing Company for 27 years and then worked in the printing division of Earl May Seed Company for 19 years before retiring.

Wayne enjoyed playing golf, hunting, boating and water skiing in the summer. His walls were lined with trophies displaying his blue rock shooting skills. Gardening was always a hobby that produced the well-known Briggs tomato juice loved by the whole family. Upon retirement, he got to spend time working on his son's farm tending his love for garden plants.  Frequent trips to South Dakota for fishing were highlight in his days.

Preceding him in death were his wife Betty, parents Clyde and Norma Briggs, his sister, Betty Jo (Lau), his brother, Bob, and his wife, Connie. Those  left to cherish his memory include his children: Vicki LePorte and husband Mike LePorte of Overland Park, KS, Mike Briggs and his wife Vicky (Tyner) Briggs of Farragut, IA; grandson Troy LePorte and wife Danica (Imboden) LePorte and  their children, Grady and Samantha of Overland Park, KS; grandson, Jason LePorte of Mesa, AZ;  granddaughter, Jessica (LePorte) Peterson and husband Jeff and their children, Adelynn, Cole, Paxton and Bella of Overland Park, KS; and great granddaughter Ashley (McGinnis) Rosier and husband Gage and  their children Maclin and Rowan of Mound City, MO.  Several nieces and nephews along with several other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah with military rites provided by the Shenandoah American Legion Color Guard.  Open visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah, family may not be present during open visitation hours.  Memorials may be directed to Rapp Park.
