Wanda Jeanine (Finley) Book was born June 17, 1924 to Claude LeRoy and Eva Lucinda (McIntire) Finley in Fremont County Iowa. Wanda passed away July 5, 2019 at Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa at the age of 95.

Wanda grew up in the Locust Grove area with her six siblings. There she attended Lone Willow School. She graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1942. After high school Wanda was a secretary for a law firm and later for DeKalb Seed Corn.

On June 20, 1945 Wanda was united in marriage to LT Robert W. Book, her high school sweetheart, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. After residing on Mare Island, California for two years the couple and young daughter moved back to hometown Shenandoah. Here they raised their daughters Pam and Penny.

Wanda was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Women and served as Deacon. She was also a member of Child Study Club, Garden Club, American Legion Auxiliary, served on the Shenandoah Cemetery Board, and was a volunteer at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends and golfing, and she and Bob were members of the Saturday Night Club. Wanda had a zest for life and was very much a people person. While residing at Elm Heights Care Center, she would be first in line for whatever activity was to take place, especially bingo, and would also encourage others to participate. In her youth, Wanda was a pitcher and fierce competitor on the Midway softball team. Wanda valued her friends and adored her family.

Preceding Wanda in death were her parents, husband Bob, brother Duane Finley and wife Elaine, sisters Irma Stratton and husband Bernard, Claudia Bangs and husband Grant (Pete), Gwen Smoke and husband Chuck, Phyllis Bloom and husband Stanley, infant sister Marvis, brother-in-law Harold Book and wife Mary Rose, sister-in-law Virginia Lynn and husband Lowell.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughter Pam Belknap and husband Dr Marv of Shenandoah, daughter Penny Davis and husband Scott of Crystal River, Florida, one granddaughter Lindsey Clouse of Nashville, Tennessee, one AFS grandson Galo Naranjo and wife Alma and daughter Isabella of Bogota, Colombia, a brother Galen Finley of Hastings, Nebraska and his wife JoAnn, nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
