Wade E. Lair's Obituary
Wade Eugene Lair, son of Elliott Wade and Betty (Fletcher) Lair, was born September 2, 1944 in Hamburg, Iowa. He passed away January 7, 2015 at the Shenandoah Medical Center in Shenandoah, Iowa. He was 70 years old.
Wade was born and raised in Hamburg, Iowa. He graduated from Hamburg High School with the class of 1962. Following high school he served his country in the United States Army from 1963 thru 1966. After his service he attended and graduated from Peru State College with a B.A. in Education.
Wade was united in marriage to Alexa Ann Snyder on January 20, 1968 in Sidney, Iowa. They resided in Hamburg, Iowa.
Wade began his teaching career in Hamburg, Iowa from 1976-1977. He then taught and coached for one year at Mondamin-West Harrison High School. In 1979, he moved his family to Shenandoah where he taught and coached the Mustangs for 30 years until his retirement in 2008.
His passion was coaching. He loved attending the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa where he was a fixture on Turn 1 for many years. He was a voracious reader, of all literature and was an Iowa State Cyclone fan. He was a fantastic artist, could free-hand anything! He was a member American Legion Post 88.
Wade was preceded in death by his wife, Alexa, in 1987 and his mother-in-law Ruby Snyder.
Wade is survived by his parents Wade and Betty Lair; four children, Damon Driskell and wife Mindy of Lincoln, Nebraska, Deidra Lanphier of Omaha, Nebraska, Marc Lair and wife Karmen of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Matthew Lair of Shenandoah, Iowa; sister Claudia Stenzel and husband Mike of Hamburg, Iowa; brother Ray Lair of Las Alamos, New Mexico. Also survived by nine grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other close friends.
Memorials may be directed to the Infusion Center at the Shenandoah Medical Center or the Shenandoah Booster Club.
Burial of cremated remains will be held at the Mt.Zion/Utterback Cemetery in rural Riverton.
The family request that if you are going to attend the memorial service to please wear your Shenandoah Mustang or Fillies attire.
