Virginia Marie (Culver) Brownlee was born on May 16, 1924 in Rural Burlington Junction, Missouri, the only child of Lee and Neva (Combs) Culver. Virginia entered into the arms of her Lord on Saturday morning, August 27, 2011 at the Ambassador Care Center in Sidney, Iowa at the blessed age of 87 years.

Virginia graduated high school from College Springs and continued her education at Northwest Missouri State University, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught school at Blanchard, College Springs and Sidney. On February 23, 1947 she was united in marriage to James Brownlee in Troy, Kansas. The couple farmed for a short time in the Coin area before moving to the farm in Farragut in January of 1949. The couple was blessed with 56 years of marriage before Jim's passing in June of 2003.

Virginia was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She assisted her husband on the farm, the children with their 4-H projects, and loved caring for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Virginia was also very active in the Farragut community. She was a member of the Garden Club, the United Methodist Women, the Centennial Club, the Farragut Senior Center, the Farm Bureau Federated Women, and enjoyed her afternoon Pitch Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband Jim.

Those left to honor her memory include her children; Glenn Brownlee and wife Helen of Shenandoah, Robert Brownlee and wife Jackie of Grand Island, NE, Rebecca Shull and husband Tom of Farragut, IA, Joy Hall and husband Conrad of Sidney, IA and David Brownlee and wife Paula of Farragut, IA; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
