Verna Darlene Rennack, daughter of Carl Emil and Hulda Marie (Klaung) Sandahl, was born on February 19, 1920, at the family farm in rural Page County, Iowa. She entered into rest on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the Shenandoah Medical Center in Shenandoah, Iowa.
Verna spent her early years on the family farm eight miles east of Shenandoah. She went to Tarkio Township County Schools until 1934. Fifty-three years later she received her GED in 1987.
She was united in marriage to Leonard H. Rennack on November 8, 1942 in Rockport, Missouri. To this union two children were born Cheryl and Terry. After marriage they resided in Shenandoah.
Before marriage Verna worked at F.W. Woolworth. After marriage she and Leonard were in the hatchery business from 1960 to 1981. From 1981 to 1999 she worked for the Shenandoah Schools in food services. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 17 years.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Rennack in 1981, her parents Emil and Hulda Sandahl, brothers Carroll, Arvid, Harry and Harold Sandahl, sisters-in-law Phillis (Stille) Rennack and Doris Sandahl.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children Cheryl Hanson and husband Neil of Arvada, Colorado and Terry Rennack and wife JoAnn of Kearney, Missouri, grandchildren Amy Hedges and husband Mike, Shelby Dougan and husband Brian and Sydney Dingman and husband Robby, great-granddaughter Anelise Hedges, sisters-in-law Alice Burns and Chrystal Sandahl, other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church of Shenandoah or the Shenandoah Medical Center in Verna's name.
