Obituary

Vada Lovica (Tillberg) Gibson, surrounded by her loving family, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 16, 2012 in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Vada, the daughter of Conrad and Prill (Marshall) Tillberg, was born in Lamar, Nebraska on May 4, 1921. As a small child the family moved to southwest Iowa. She graduated from Coin High School with the Class of 1938. In 1940 she was united in marriage to Keith Gibson and they spent their married life on a farm southeast of Northboro.

When not busy on the farm, Vada and Keith enjoyed traveling with friends, fishing in Minnesota and visiting their children and grandchildren. Vada was a member of the Northboro United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 20 years, and where she spread her faith through song and service throughout her long life. She enjoyed being a 4-H leader to her daughters and Cub Scout Den Mother to her son. She was active in UMW and Bible studies, always eager to provide a meeting place and refreshments. She was also a member of the Live Wire and State Line Clubs. Her greatest joy was sharing her love of gardening, quilting and sewing with her family. Giving homemade candies, jams and jellies for Christmas gifts and sewing a quilt for each child and grandchild. Unknown until recently to her family, Vada wrote poetry, and documented her life within the poems she wrote. In one aptly named "A Trip Down Memory Lane", Vada notes... "but we never lacked for love and after all what more did one need?" This love was something that Vada spread throughout her life to those around her. She never met a stranger and was always involved in card clubs, dessert making, sewing and ministry.

Vada is survived by her four children, Connie Lee and husband Larry, Patricia Kolodzie and husband Nicky, Sharon Hall and husband Charles and Dellas Gibson and wife Diane; 13 grandchildren, Chris Lee, Laurie Daffer and husband Joseph, Kenneth Kolodzie and wife Sharon, Kevin Kolodzie and wife Terri, Kathy Miller and husband Pat, Karen Mawyer and husband Kent, Doug Hall, Steve Hall and wife Amy, Greg Hall and wife Kelly, Jason Gibson and wife Lori, Justin Gibson, Jarod Gibson and wife Amanda and Jaclyn Gibson; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of nearly 50 years, Keith; and sister Ruth Hutt.

May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn her loss.
