Twila L. Hutchison's Obituary
Twila Lou Hutchison, daughter of Milton and Edna (Heiden) Ahrens, was born on July 16, 1933, at Davenport, Nebraska. She passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha at the age of 74.
Most all of Twila's life has been spent in the Shenandoah, Iowa area. Twila received her education at Porter's Lake School and Shenandoah High School. On August 7, 1950, Twila was united in marriage to Leonard Ray Hutchison at Bentonville, Arkansas. Following their marriage they resided in Coin, Iowa, later moving to Shenandoah. To this union four children were born, Debbie, Cindy, Alan and Brad. She worked at Spurgeon's Department store for several years before Leonard and her bought the Dairy Queen in Shenandoah in 1967. For over 41 years, Twila was very active in the management and operations of the store until her most recent health issues. Twila was a member of Coin United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, playing cards with her sisters, caring for her flowers and gardening.
Preceding Twila in death were her parents; and two sisters, Colene Malmberg and Rexine Burroughs. Survivors include her husband of over 57 years, Leonard Hutchison of Shenandoah, IA; four children, Debbie Christianson and her husband Dan and Cindy Anderson and her husband Brent, all of Shenandoah, IA, Alan Hutchison and his wife Denise and Brad Hutchison and his wife Sheila, all of Coin, IA; seven grandchildren, April and Josh Binau, Amber Christianson and Chris Fichter, Cathy and Chris Lorimor, Susanne and Dustin Collins, Rob Addy and Ernestina Snyder, Heather and Casey Hutchison and Jesse Polsley; four great grandchildren, Cayley, Cain and Camden Lorimor and Anthony Addy; other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services were held on Monday, April 28, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Elmwood Cemetery in Coin, Iowa. Words of comfort were given by Rev. Carl Phillips. Attending the memory register was Lois Pease. Memorials in Twila's name are being directed to the Coin United Methodist Church. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
