Obituary

Thomas Clayton Rumery was born to a loving family May 21, 1923, in a small country home, south of Randolph, Iowa. When he was about three or four years old, he would go to town every Saturday night, with his parents and older brother Willard. Little Tommy would sing a song for anyone for a penny or a nickel. It was told the song might not be so well sung, but it was so cute to see him lift the hem of his coat and tuck the coin "deep" into his pocket.

Tom received his education at the Randolph School. Where he enjoyed rolling marbles down the classroom aisles and many other shenanigans.

He met the love of his life, Lois Maxine Phillips. They were married April 22, 1944. To them was given three children: Rodger Lee, Connie Sue, and Kristie Gail.

Tom worked in a packing plant, he farmed, then at Eatons, and later owned his own lime and rock business. He was happiest going on long, slow, Sunday drives. Farming on both sides of the road . Often to be heard saying "Have you ever seen corn like that !?

He enjoyed hunting jack rabbits in Kansas, to fishing in Canada. He loved flying his airplane, going to flight breakfasts, and visiting relatives. He was a deacon at the Randolph Presbyterian Church, He was past patron of the Randolph Order of Eastern Star, and D.L. in the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and his wife and a grandson.

He is survived by his son Rodger Lee Rumery of Oakridge, Oregon and special friend, Sharon of Lincoln, Nebraska; two daughters, Connie Davis and husband Roger "Fred" of Shenandoah, Iowa, Kristie Jones and husband Roger of Westboro, Missouri; 7 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Tom Loved God and his country, his wife and family. "Rest In Peace Dad" Till we all meet Again.
