Thelma Elizabeth (Booker) Herron, age 89 of Farragut, Iowa passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born to Sarah and Edward Booker in Hamburg, Iowa on November 13, 1928.

Thelma was united in marriage to James Lorraine Herron on November 7, 1946. They had two sons, Glenn Lee Herron and Harold Lynn Herron.

Through the years Thelma held many different jobs; she worked at Mount Arbor Nursery, Ocoma Foods, Farragut Caf as a cook and finally at Garden View Care Center where she retired at the age of 80.

Thelma had a beautiful and warming smile. She took great joy in cooking and baking for her family and friends, as well as caring for her garden. She also enjoyed sharing and canning the produce from her garden.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband James (9/28/1971); parents Sarah and Edward Booker; brothers Carl "Bud" Booker and Donald Booker and sisters Edna Patterson and Stella Almaroad.

Thelma is survived by her two sons, Glenn Lee Herron and wife Gayle of Shenandoah and Harold Lynn Herron and wife Karen of Shenandoah; five grandchildren, James D. Herron and wife Sherry of Glenwood, Jamie McCue of Glenwood, Jacqueline Graves of Monroe, IA, James R. Herron and fianc Cortney Johnson of Shenandoah and Jeremy Herron and Heather Hutchison of Shenandoah; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Maxine Butt of Farragut; brother Jim Booker and wife Sandy of Shenandoah; sisters-in-law, Jan Booker of Moline, IL and Evelyn Booker of Rock Island, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Memorial visitation with the family will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah.

Graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Farragut Cemetery in Farragut.
