Obituary

Terence Gerheart Rolf, son of Donald Gerhard and Faye Augusta (Headley) Rolf, was born on November 19, 1955 in Shenandoah, Iowa. He entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 30, 2018.

Terry lived in the Shenandoah area all of his life and attended Shenandoah schools from kindergarten through high school. He graduated from Iowa Western Community College in Clarinda, Iowa with an Associates of Science degree in 1976. Terry began farming with his dad that same year.

On April 24, 1982 Terry was united in marriage to Patti Sue Hayhurst at the United Methodist Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. They moved to their current home in rural Northboro in 1984. Terry was a self-employed farmer who, with his dad and son, raised corn, soybeans, oats, clover, hay and seed corn as well as livestock consisting of cattle and hogs. He also worked at Conagra and as a Rural Carrier for the United States Postal Service.

Terry was a lifelong, active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church (his ancestors helped found the church). He served in many roles including the Church Council, Cemetery Board, Sunday School teacher, choir member and assisted with the annual Christmas Program. He was also a loyal 4-H member, leader and alumni. He was a member of the Young Farmers of American organization and was also active in numerous organizations such as the Grape Community Hospital Board, the Page County Extension Council and the Page County Fair Board.

Terry was an avid supporter and attendee of the Shenandoah school athletic and extracurricular activities. Terry shared his love of truck and tractor pulls as well as hard rock and heavy metal music with Andrew; who attended many events together. He loved playing and inventing games with his family. These included: Monopoly, croquet, El KaBong, Up and Down the River, yard darts, Farming Game, "Ball", mini golf, chess, ping pong, "run down", the Millee Bornes card game, hide and seek with the cousins and he even created his own 3-hole golf course in the family yard. He loved to read farming magazines and suspense/psychological thriller books. He was deeply loyal to God, family and friends. Terry was always there to help anyone in need.

Terry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Mary Rolf and Carl and Abba Headley and his father, Donald Rolf.
