Shirley Jean Stanley the daughter of Arthur Lanzo and Virgia Mae (Begnoche) Demanett was born on August 10, 1945 in Yorktown, Iowa. She passed away on October 2, 2024 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Shirley's early years were spent with her brothers and sisters on the farms in Southwest Iowa. She attended school in Clarinda, Red Oak and Essex. She graduated from Essex High School. In the early 1980's she received her computer programming certificate.
Shirley married Richard Allen Stanley on January 23, 1966 at the Covenant Church in Essex. Shirley worked for several employers during her working years which include; Member Works, ConAgra, Millard Refrigeration, Blue Star Foods, Mt. Arbor Nurseries, Farm Master, Woolworths and Raidt's. In her spare time Shirley enjoyed reading, puzzles, crafting especially quilting, true crime documentaries, flowers and gardening.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Richard Stanley; son Michael Stanley; parents Arthur and Virgia Demanett; sisters Marlene Lewellen and Geraldine Scott; brothers Arthur "Dow" and Larry Demanett; nieces Angela Demanett and Penny Lewellen and nephews Chris Scott and Tim Demanett.
Shirley will be sadly missed by her sons Jeff Stanley of Shenandoah and Corey (Tammy) Stanley of Clarinda, grandchildren Drew Stanley of Ft. Collins, CO, Bailey (Andy) Vial of Red Oak, Hannah Stanley of Red Oak, Cooper Stanley of Clarinda, Laura Hartman of Coin, Brittany (Kyle) Smith of Amazonia, MO and Oren Keller of Clarinda; great-grandchildren Oliver Stanley of Ft. Collins, CO and Abe Vial of Red Oak; brothers Cleo (Diane) Demanett of Reno, NV and Raymond (Jeanette) Demanett of Shenandoah; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Wabash Memorial Chapel in Shenandoah, Iowa. Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Wabash Memorial Chapel in Shenandoah, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family.
