Russ passed away at his home in Farragut.
Private graveside services will be held in the Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to his wife Judy.
Russell Cole Jensen was born on April 6, 1919 on a farm in Fremont County, Iowa. Russell entered into peace on June 24, 2013 at his home in Farragut, Iowa.
Russell's early years were spent in Fremont County and Shenandoah. He attended high school in Shenandoah. During his working years he farmed, worked at Mount Arbor Nursery, Imperial Chemical, Revell Trucking and later retired from McLean Trucking in Shenandoah in 1979.
On November 22,1961 he was united in marriage to Judith Gaye (Schultz) in Shenandoah, Iowa. The couple lived on the family farm, until their house was taken by a tornado in 1979. They then moved to their home in Farragut where Russell resided until his passing.
Russell enjoyed raising a garden, fishing, hunting and trapping. Russell and Judy spent over 15 years in Florida and Texas during the winter months living in their RV. Woodworking and restoring antiques was another passion of his. He rarely missed an auction, except when his health began to decline. He was a member of the Holiday Rambler Camping Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; half sister Garnett, step-mother Gertrude, sister Bea Merrigan; sons Harry and Tom Jensen; and brother-in-laws Harold Schultz and William Hankins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Judy; son Richard Jensen of Branson, Missouri; step-son John Renken and wife Effie of Russellville, AR; step-daughter Jane Lane of Stoughton, MA; nephews John George and wife Barb of Bolivar, MO and Jerry George and wife Kay of Oakdale, MN; niece Susan Schmuck and husband Merlyn of Yankton, SD; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
