Ruby M. Scotton
Ruby Maxine Scotton, daughter of Samuel M. and Cora Inez (Vawter) Irvin, was born on December 4, 1916, in rural Page County, Iowa near Blanchard. Ruby entered into eternal peace on Sunday morning, January 17, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 93.
Her early years were spent growing up in the Blanchard and Coin, Iowa areas. Ruby graduated from Northboro High School with the Class of 1935.
On February 28, 1938, Ruby was united in marriage to the "love of her life" Byron Ward Scotton at Rock Port, Missouri. Following their marriage they farmed Walter Haynie's farm, 160 acres on "Goldenrod" south of Northboro. Roughly 10 1/2 years later the couple moved to the farm 1/2 mile east of Northboro.
Ruby was a dedicated wife and mother. She was a member of the Live Wire Club, the Northboro United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, served as a 4-H Leader, and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed family events, cooking, and gardening. She was loved dearly and will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ermal and Dale and a sister Florence.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband Byron of Red Oak, IA; daughter Karon Stanley and husband Jerry of Red Oak, IA, Ed Scotton and wife Diane of Bedford, IA, and Colleen Gilpin and husband Jeff of Omaha, NE; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; other family and dear friends.
