Rosemary Fichter, 81, died Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009, at Garden View Care Center, Shenandoah, Iowa.

Born November 17, 1928, to Lillian and Albert Corby Fichter, Sr., Rosemary went to college at Colorado's Women's College. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado in Boulder. She also graduated with a Master of Science in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and then went to Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo for her sixth year program.

Rosemary taught English and Social Studies in the high school at Kilgore, Nebraska and then at Shenandoah Junior High. She became the librarian at Shenandoah High School. She worked at Military Dependents Schools in France and Germany as a librarian. She finally worked in Denver Public Schools as a librarian.

She retired early to care for her parents in Shenandoah where she became very involved in the community. She was active in P.E.O., the Mentor Club, the Book Club, Shenandoah's Women's Service Club, DAR, and the United Methodist Church. Rosemary enjoyed reading, traveling all over the world, playing the piano, doing puzzles, and knitting. She enjoyed being an aunt to her nieces and nephews as well as to her grandnieces and grandnephews. Rosemary is survived by her only brother, Albert Corby Fichter, Jr.
