Rose Charlene (Nielsen) Carter was born on December 31, 1944 in Maryville, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond and Ruth (Smith) Nielsen. Charlene entered into eternal peace on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah.
Charlene's early years were spent in the Watson, Missouri area before the family moved to Shenandoah. She was a dedicated homemaker and also ran a home daycare business. She loved and cared for children in her home for over 21 years.
On June 18, 1988 she was united in marriage to Lloyd Carter. The couple was blessed with 30 years of marriage before Lloyd's passing in 2019. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, diamond painting, crocheting and embroidery. She also loved listening to music. She was loved and cherished by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 7 siblings; husband Lloyd, and grandson Julian Hernandez. Those left to honor her memory include her children Randy Mattice and wife Beatrice, Becky Hogue and husband Mark, Charlie Mattice and wife Tammy, Lisa Moyer and husband Daniel and Pamela McLaren and friend Adrian Barlow; 12 grandchildren Brandi, Brittany, Shane, Shea, Lance, Brock, Tim, Kynzie, Hailey, Eli, Sage and Jackson; and 7 great-grandchildren McKennon, Arrow Grace, Lexi, Brezie, Bella, Gabbie and Lincoln.; other relatives and a host of friends.
