Ronald D. Adwell, age 78, departed this world on December 25, 2017 at Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, Arizona after suffering an acute stroke. Ron was born in Shenandoah, Iowa on April 27, 1939 to Clellan and Pauline Adwell.

Ron graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1957, lettering in track and football. During his junior and senior years in high school, Ron served in the Iowa National Guard as an M1 Marksman. He was discharged from the National Guard on June 17, 1957 to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. In the Marine Corps he was a teletype repairman from June 18, 1957 until September 16, 1960 when he was released from active duty under honorable conditions. After his Marine Corps service, Ron worked briefly at the Western Electric plant in Millard, Nebraska before enlisting in the United States Air Force on March 12, 1962. He was a radar repairman in the Air Force, and was honorably discharged after four years, on January 14, 1966. For the next four years, Ron worked in Vietnam for two military contractors, Page Communications and Pacific Architects and Engineers.

Ron moved from Millard to Phoenix in 1971, eventually settling in Gila Bend, Arizona. He worked for the State of Arizona Department Transportation for 33 years until retiring in 2004.

Ron's passion was reading and sharing ideas about how to improve one's health, he studied religions of all types and enjoyed watching old cowboy movies.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and three infant siblings, boys Edward Joe and David, and an unnamed girl.

Celebration of life memorial graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah with military rites.
