Ronald Earl Bartles, son of Harley Winston and Alice (Rounds) Bartles, was born on September 9, 1939 in Shenandoah, Iowa. He passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
He received his education in the Shenandoah Community Schools, graduating from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1957. He served in the U. S. Navy for three years. A longtime lumberman, Ron worked for United Building Center (Green Bay Lumber) for over 37 years. Ron was married to Peggy Chaney and Gloria Onsager, before marrying his wife of 18 years, Susie Sutton, in 1988. Ron was a member of Shenandoah Eagles Club, having served as President. He was also a member of the First Christian Church in Shenandoah and former member of the AMVETS. Ron Enjoyed woodworking and looked forward to attending high school football games on Friday night.
Survivors include his wife, Susie Bartles of Shenandoah; three sons, David Bartles and friend Patty Freer of Shenandaoh, Iowa, Brian Bartles of Glenwood, Iowa and Jeff Bartles of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two daughters, Shelly Campbell and her husband Les of Nebraska City, NE and Shirley Buller and her husband Jason of Red Oak, IA; sister, Cheryl Lewis and her husband Herb of Red Oak, IA; nephew, Rick Lewis and his wife Kerry of Creston, IA; niece, Sandy Taylor and friend Jason Dumler of Red Oak, IA; other relatives and many friends. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah.
