Visitation and viewing with the family will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Wabash Memorial Chapel.  Cremation will follow and burial will be held at a later date at the Dallas Center Cemetery in rural New Market.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

Roberta Kay Taylor, age 73 of Shenandoah passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.  Roberta was born on January 21, 1952 is Isadora, Missouri, the daughter of Earnest and Eva Helen (Smyser) Runyon.  The first three years of her life were spent in Bedding, Corning and Walnut, Iowa.  Her remaining early years were spent in Missouri until she entered high school.  Roberta obtained her GED and continued her education at Iowa Western Community College, where she received her associates degree.

Roberta was united in marriage to Irvin Poe.  The couple raised their children Kevin, Julie, Rebecca and Brian.  They later divorced.  On September 16, 1973 she was united in marriage to Gary Wayne Taylor, Sr.  Two children were born to this union, Gary Wayne, Jr. and Michael Lee.

During her working years she was employed by Garden View Care Center, Elm Heights Care Center, Circle K, Pella Windows and Casey's General Store.  She was an active member of the Shenandoah Eagles Club and donated to various charities including St. Jude Children's Hospital.  She was instrumental in the memorial ride for her late husband, Gary.  All of the proceeds from this ride were donated to the Iowa Make A Wish Foundation.

In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially family camping trips.  She loved to shop and find the latest deals!   She would do anything in the world for her family, as she adored them all so much.

Roberta was preceded in death by her husband Gary Wayne Taylor, Sr; parents, Earnest & Eva Runyon; daughters, Rebecca Hardin & Julie Jones; grandson, Daniel Jones; granddaughter, Jessica Hardin; great-grandson Elliot; sister Theresa Adkinson; and brother Gary Runyon.  Those left to cherish her memory include her children; Kevin Poe of Shenandoah, Brian Poe  of Corning, Gary Wayne Taylor, Jr.  (Tiffany) of Shenandoah and Michael Taylor (Shannon Buick) also of Shenandoah; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
