Robert Bruce Holdridge, Jr. was born on March 19, 1949 at the Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa to Robert B. and Mary Lou (Gutsch) Holdridge. Robert entered into eternal peace on April 29, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the blessed age of 74 years.

Robert was raised in the Shenandoah community where as a young boy he joined the Cub Scouts. Many days and nights were spent at the State Theater and the Iowa Drive-In which his parents owned and operated. Robert graduated from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1967.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Mae Shadduck. The couple was blessed with the adoption of their daughter Mary Ann. Following the couples divorce Robert moved to Texas. He was employed by Flower City in Dallas, Texas and later worked as a department store manager. Upon returning to Shenandoah he worked at Tarkio Academy and Orscheln Farm and Home in Nebraska City. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Shenandoah. Some of his interests included playing golf, spending time with his family, hiking, playing cards, sail boating and antiquing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and former wife Shirley Mae. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Mary Ann Thornton and husband Josh of Braddyville, IA; grandchildren Ashley Ward husband Seth of Essex, Courtney Ryan and Dakota Mattox both of Braddyville, IA; great-grandchildren Jadealynn, Emberlee, Kyson, Maelie, Zinnia, Azalea, Scarlett, Daniel and Nora; other family and dear friends.
