Robert William Endicott was born on March 4, 1924 in Pittsburg, Kansas; the son of Frank Clifford and Christina (Tygart) Endicott. Robert passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton, South Dakota.

Robert attended school and graduated from machinist college in Kansas. He later served on the Civilian Conservation Court. On August 23, 1952 he was united in marriage to Betty Parmerlee. The couple made there home for many years in Kansas City where they raised their three children Sylvia, Robert and Mildred.

Robert worked as a machinist for 18 years with the Atomic Energy Commission. During his time with the commission he was assigned duties associated with the space program. Following his work with the Atomic Energy Commission, Robert and Betty moved to Northboro, Iowa where they purchased the "Midway" Restaurant, garage, filling station and machine shop located on the corner of Hwy 333 and Hwy 59, in rural Northboro. Robert enjoyed his work and the many friends that he and Betty made.

Robert was a member of the Blanchard Masonic Lodge. He also was an avid outdoorsman. He had a passion for fishing and hunting pheasants. He could often be found picking fresh fruit from the trees or hunting mushrooms. Robert also had quite the sweet tooth. He always had a candy dish outside his door at the nursing home to share with others. Some of Robert's other interests included dancing, poetry, music, and animals.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife of 53 years, Betty, two brothers Frank Clifford, Jr. and Howard Abner, and a sister Helen Dorothy.

Those left to honor his memory include his children; Mildred K. Cole of Papillion, NE, Robert L. Endicott and wife Debbie of Kingsville, MO and Sylvia Endicott-Sullivan and husband Larry of Yankton, SD; special family friend John "Jack" Mansfield of Yankton, SD, grandsons; Rod Cole, Jr. and Bill Cole and wife Vivian both of LaVista, NE and James Cole and wife Lindsey of Papillion, NE; great-grandchildren; Garrett Kasinac and Madalyn Cole; sister Mildred Carsel of Kansas City, MO; brother Theodore Endicott and wife Jackie; nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.


Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Special remembrances of Bob were given by Gary Vogt, Art Jones and Bret Craven. Attending the memory register was Phyllis Jones. Caring for the flowers was Vivian Cole. Vocalist was Sylvia Endicott-Sullivan accompanied by organist, Margaret Woods. Casket bearers were Bill Cole, Rod Cole, James Cole, Dan Endicott, John Mansfield and J. D. Carr. Honorary casket bearers were Garrett Kasinac and Josh Hoffman. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials in Bob's name are being directed to the family.
