Robert Powell Naico was born on January 14, 1937 in Essex, Iowa, the son of Harry Kondrat and Lois (Swalley) Naico. Bob entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa.

Bob was a lifelong resident of Essex. He attended Essex Community Schools. In 1955 he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country as a sharp shooter and a marksman in the signal core. He was stationed in Germany. In 1958 he received an honorable discharge.

On June 19, 1959 he was united in marriage to Betty Ann Grebert in Clarinda, Iowa. The couple resided in Essex following their marriage. While in school, Bob began working for Mount Arbor Nursery. He later worked as a butcher at Johnson Grocery in Essex, as a salesman for McNess, served as a Deputy for the Page County Sheriff's Department and finished his career as an officer with the Shenandoah Police Department, where he retired in 1997. He then worked part-time as a security officer for Earl May.

Bob was a member of the Essex Commercial Club, the Essex Fire and Rescue, and "The Fuzz that Was". Some of his interests included fishing, gardening, hunting, telling stories, and drinking coffee at Jay Drug. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren. Going to breakfast with his best friend Loren Pierce for the "fuzz that was" meetings were highlights of his day.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Joe, Jim and Jerry Naico; sister-in-law Mary Naico; brother-in-law Al Grebert; and father and mother in-law Hilbert and Frances Grebert.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 53 years Betty Naico; sons Rodney Naico and wife Cathey of Blanchard, OK and Kevin Naico and fianc Kim of Shenandoah, IA; daughter Stacy Nelson and husband Josh of Essex, IA; grandchildren Tchana, Corianna, Ryan, Dylan, Branson, Ethan, Carson, Keegan, Kendall, Kooper, and Chelsey; brothers Donald and Kenny Naico; sister Maralyn, Judy, Donna and Kay; best friend Loren Pierce; the Grebert family; other relatives and many friends.
