Robert Dean "Bob" Foster, son of Ernest T. and Cressie M. (Oller) Foster, was born on December 8, 1934, in Corning, Iowa. Bob passed away on November 29, 2021, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 86.
He graduated from Atlantic High School with the class of 1953. Following high school he attended the University of Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri. He then served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959, then in the Iowa National Guard from 1959 to 1963.
Bob was united in marriage to Karen A. Paterson on February 5, 1956, in Atlantic, Iowa. They resided in Atlantic until 1971, then moved to Shenandoah. He worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation from 1955 until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Atlantic Elks Lodge, Lions Club and First United Methodist Church of Shenandoah, where he served on various committees. He enjoyed golf, traveling and boating.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Cressie Foster.
Bob will be sadly missed by his wife Karen Foster of Shenandoah, Iowa, daughter Tammy Hansen and husband Marty of Springfield, Missouri, son Craig Foster of Shenandoah, Iowa; grandsons Christopher Hansen of Springfield, Missouri and Zachary Foster of Shenandoah, Iowa; adopted granddaughter Emily Murphy and husband Jack of Joplin, Missouri, adopted great-granddaughters Olivia Grace and Lucy June Murphy, host of other family and friends.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah. Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah. Memorials may be directed to the family.
