Richard Ray "Dick" Bright, son of Murlin Daniel and Katie Leona (McKinney) Bright, was born on May 19, 1936 in Shenandoah, Iowa.  He passed away on July 9, 2021 at Azria Health in Clarinda, Iowa.

In Dick's early adult years he worked for Mt. Arbor Nursery.  Then he started farming and that would be his passion for the  rest of his life.

On April 4, 1960 he was united in marriage to Lois Marie Oldham at the Baptist Church in Shenandoah.  They resided in Shenandoah for few years before moving to Glenwood for a couple of years.  They then returned to the area and settled on the current farm in 1978.

Dick was a member of the Faith Covenant Church of Essex.  He enjoyed tinkering with antique tractors and cars, gardening and his remote controlled airplanes.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife Lois M. Bright, parents Murlin and Katie Bright, infant son Ricky, infant daughter Vicki, grandson Joseph Chatfield, brothers Bernard, Robert and LeRoy Bright, and sisters-in-law Marjorie Bright, Elta Bright and Betty Bright.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children Tammy Chatfield of Essex, Iowa, Timothy Bright of Emerson, Iowa and Terry Bright of Essex, Iowa, four grandchildren, brothers Jack Bright and Russell (Dow) Bright and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home.  Graveside Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah, Iowa.  Memorials may be directed to the family.
