Richard "Kent" Cunningham was born on November 30, 1948, in Shenandoah, Iowa to Harry Richard and Marguerite Gwendolyn (Saxton) Cunningham.  He passed away on August 10, 2022, at his home in rural Coin, Iowa.

Kent grew up in Shenandoah, Iowa with his siblings Jimmy and Barb.  He graduated from Shenandoah High School with the class of 1967.  Immediately following graduation, he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force.  He attended bootcamp in Biloxi, Mississippi.  Following bootcamp he was stationed in Nakhon Phanom, Thailand during the Vietnam War and his focus was on the use of radar technology during the war.  He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in March of 1972.

On October 10, 1992, he was united in marriage to Donna Sue Morris at the Waubonsie State Park.

Kent retired from Eaton's Corporation after working there for 25 years.  Then continued to do remodeling jobs, until he was almost 70.  He built many friendships along every step of the way.

Kent had a love for the outdoors and the peace it brought.  He also enjoyed motorcycles, restoring vintage cars, and helping friends and neighbors remodel.
