Obituary

Pauline passed away at the Fair Oaks Care Center on Wednesday evening.

Memorials may be directed to the Coin Fire and Rescue.

Pauline (Brown) Martin was born on October 26, 1922, the daughter of Earl B. and Bertha L. (Combs) Brown in rural Burlington Junction, Missouri. Pauline entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Pauline's early life was spent on the farm near Burlington Junction until her father passed away at which time she and her mother moved to Tarkio. She attended school in Tarkio and graduated from Tarkio High School with the Class of 1940. She went on to attend business school in Omaha and worked as a secretary in Omaha and Shenandoah before returning to Tarkio.

On December 29, 1943 she was united in marriage to Dean B. Martin at her mother's home in Tarkio. Following marriage the couple lived and farmed east of Tarkio. They moved to a farm near Westboro, Missouri in 1947. In 1960, they bought a farm near Coin, Iowa where they retired. During their marriage the couple was blessed with the birth of five children.

Pauline was a loving and dedicated wife and mother. She was a member of the Visit Awhile Club, State Line Club, the Blanchard United Methodist Church, the Coin United Methodist Church and the Memorial Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, quilting, crocheting, gardening and in later years traveling. Dean and Pauline enjoyed their winter travels to Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; parents; three brothers and two sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children Ann Scholten of Corsica, South Dakota, Larry Martin of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Richard Martin of Hastings, Iowa, Roger Martin of Shenandoah, Iowa and Steve Martin of Coin, Iowa; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
