Obituary

Patsy Prue Sorensen, daughter of Edward Robert and Nell Lois (Prue) Ohnmacht, was born June 24, 1932 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. She passed away October 4, 2014 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. She was 82 years old

Patsy was born and raised in Nebraska City, Nebraska until the age of eight. Then her family moved to rural Essex, Iowa. She graduated from Essex High School with the class of 1950. After graduation she attended and graduated from the University of Iowa School of Nursing in 1953. After graduation she worked for the University of Iowa Hospitals.

Patsy was united in marriage to Lloyd Vincent Sorensen on November 29, 1956 in Iowa City, Iowa. They later moved to Essex where Lloyd farmed and Patsy was closer to her family. Patsy spent her life taking care of others, working as a nurse at Clarinda Mental Health Institute, Goldenrod Care Center, Garden View Care Center and Elm Heights Care Center. In 1990, she moved to Shenandoah after Lloyd's death.

Patsy was a member of the Norwich United Methodist Church, active in United Methodist Women and Legion Auxiliary of Essex. She loved to garden and always had beautiful roses. She also collected antique dishes. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she loved spending time with them.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lloyd Sorensen.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children; David Edward Sorensen and wife Nancy of Essex, Iowa and Teri Ann Woodruff and husband Michael of Ankeny, Iowa, grandchildren; Erin Lynn Sorensen of Kansas City, Missouri and Luke Edward Sorensen of Rumford, Maine, and brother Robert Edward Ohnmacht and wife Elaine of Essex, Iowa. She will also be missed by many other friends and relatives.

Memorials may be directed to People for Paws or Norwich United Methodist Church.

Inurnment will be held at the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Iowa
