Patsy Ann Murphy Beavers was born November 15, 1937 in the Omaha Methodist Hospital.  She passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Accura HealthCare of Shenandoah.  Her parents were Ethelyn Esther(Rowan) Murphy and William Murphy. Patsy and her parents lived on a farm her first years and then lived in Coin. She attended Coin schools from fall 1945 until graduating in 1956.  As a young person, she played the piano and flute and took part in plays and speech.  Pat attended Clarinda Jr. College, graduating from there in 1958. After that, she taught in Mapleton, IA one year before marrying Thomas Earl Beavers on June 19, 1959 at Coin Methodist Church. After teaching a half year, Jan-May 1960 in Elkhorn, IA, they moved to Shenandoah where she started teaching second grade the fall of 1960 until the fall of 1967 when Brian Lee was born October 4, 1967 and Amy Lyn was born July 29, 1970. Pat started teaching again when Amy was in kindergarten and retired in May of 1999.

Pat graduated from Northwest Missouri State, Maryville, MO, 1966 with honors. She attended the Coin Methodist Church throughout her childhood and became a member. After Tom and she moved to Shenandoah in 1960, they attended the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ and became members.  She has held a number of offices both in the church and women's organizations over the years including: AAUW, Young Mothers Athenaeum, Study Club,  P.E.O (DN), and Eastern Star.  She also earned a number of awards throughout her lifetime including:  Recipient of American Citizenship award - IA State Bar Association 1956, Young Mother of the Year - Young Mothers Club 1972, and Who's Who of American Women named in 1966.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethelyn Esther (Rowan) and William Murphy, Tom's parents: Anna Ruth (Adkins) and Walter Lee Beavers, brothers: Hollis, Thomas, and sister Genevieve, sister in laws: Lois Stephens, Evelyn Murphy, Winifred Murphy, Virginia Slater, Arlene Slater, and brother in laws: John Grenemyer, Roland Slater, Donald Slater, Carl Stephens, and nephew Cecil Stephens.

Pat is survived by her husband of 65 years, Thomas Beavers, Children: Brian Lee (Christy), Amy Lyn Molina (Jorge), Grandchildren: Brielle Nicole and Avery Janae Beavers, Alex Gabriel and Max Michael Molina as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She has especially enjoyed the time with family and friends. There have been many family dinners and picnics over the years. She has always enjoyed reading and in more recent years taking part in exercise each day and sharing coffee time with several friends.  Her family will remember her fondly for her endearing personality and her ability to make every holiday and visit special. From her homemade cookies and fabulous meals to leading Bingo and reading stories, Grammy will forever be remembered and hold a special place in our hearts.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2024 at the Wabash Memorial Chapel in Shenandoah.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2024 at the Wabash Memorial Chapel.  Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Memorial may be directed to the Shenandoah Public Library or Shenandoah Iowa Education Foundation.
