Patricia "Pat" Viola Anderzhon, daughter of Russell and Viola (Anderson) Julius, was born on July 6, 1944 in Cherokee, Iowa. Pat passed away on June 16, 2017 at the Ambassador Health in Sidney, Iowa.
Pat attended grade school in Cherokee prior to her family moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in 1955. There she finished elementary school as well as junior and senior high school. She graduated from Washington High in 1963. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota, in 1967.
She was united in marriage to John Anderzhon on May 26, 1973, in Omaha, Nebraska. This union produced two sons, Eric John and Ryan Russell, both of whom she considered her greatest accomplishments.
She enjoyed her 50 years in the nursing profession, working and instructing at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona and Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa. She was our "go-to" person for medical questions, and she was always quick to point out that we should "always wash our hands" and offer other medical advice. "Once a nurse, Always a nurse."
Her favorite pastimes were reading, watching "Jeopardy" and "Wheel of Fortune," playing piano, bridge clubs, listening to music (classical, easy listening, Boomer music from the 1950's and 1960's), and spending time with her grandchildren. One of her favorite poems was "Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost , and a favorite flower was the iris.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Viola Julius; in-laws, Fred and Jesse Anderzhon; brother, Jerry Julius; and brother-in-law Jack Reynolds.
Pat is survived by her husband of 44 years, John Anderzhon of Farragut; sons, Eric (Renae) Anderzhon of Henderson, Nevada and Ryan (Angie) Anderzhon of Farragut; grandchildren, Jordan, Cheyenne, Katelynn, Sadie, Zane and Nash Anderzhon; sister, Pam Reynolds of Papillion, Nebraska, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Judy and Larry Lint of Tampa, Florida and Jim and Janice Anderzhon of Farragut; nephews Mat Young of Montreal, Canada, Angie (Jon) Dozler of Urbandale, Iowa and Brian (Jaclyn) Anderzhon of Story City, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
