Patricia passed away on Tuesday afternoon, May 14, 2024.  Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Conception Abbey or To The Family.

Patricia L. Head of Imogene, Iowa, entered peacefully into rest on May 14, 2024, at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 88.

Patricia "Pat" Lillian (Maher) Head was born on November 24, 1935, at home on the family farm in Mills County, Iowa, to Catherine M. (Sweeney) Maher and Thomas P. Maher.

Patricia grew up on the family farm northwest of Imogene. She received the sacraments of Baptism, First Confession, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Imogene, Iowa. She attended Glynn Country School south of the family farm for her elementary education and St. Patrick Academy, Imogene, Iowa, for her junior high and high school education where she was taught by the Dominican Sisters.

On February 17, 1953, Patricia married Gerald "Jerry" A. Head at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Imogene, Iowa. She traveled with Jerry during his military service in the United States Army (1953 to 1955). Jerry and Patricia raised seven children on the family farm. She was a life-long member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and St. Patrick Altar and Rosary Society. She also served as sacristan at daily Mass. Together with Jerry, she farmed all her life near Imogene. They raised their seven children in the Catholic faith, supported Catholic education at St. Patrick Academy, and were active members of the parish. Patricia was a hard-working farm wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, devoted to her faith, her family, and the farm. She grew up at the end of the Depression and knew the hardships her parents and families faced. She was grateful for her many blessings.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, in 2015; grandson Ryan Skalberg in 1986; her parents and siblings.  Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jim (Becky) Head, Randolph, Iowa; Dianne V. Head, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Connie (Les) Skalberg, Red Oak, Iowa; Christie Ford, Imogene, Iowa; Larry Head, Imogene, Iowa; Lori (Fred) Bruce, Red Oak, Iowa; Paul Head (Shelly Hopp), Randolph, Iowa; 15 grandchildren, Craig (Shari) Head, Stacie (Todd) Jones, Clint (Andria) Head, Tiffany (Doug) Lyons, Curtis (Kayla) Head; Jeff (Ann) Skalberg and Ryanne (Brandon) Hommer; Andy (Christine) Ford, Adam (Helen) Ford, James (Traci) Ford and Michael (Amber) Ford; Anthony (Emily) Head
and Amy Head; Sara (Luke) Dailey and Beth (Caleb) Rehbein; and 33 great-grandchildren: Christopher, Brooklyn, and Colton Head; Alice, Samuel, and Vincent Jones; Jordan and Sydney Head; Jada, Dane, and Trey Lyons; Roman, Sullivan and Delainey Head; Maggie and the twins Lydia and Benjamin Skalberg; Sawyer and Bryer Hommer; Ellie Ford; Annie and Alex Ford; Rykken Mitchem and Rozelyn Kopiasz; Peyton Ford; Jaxton, Barrett and Harley Head; Max and Maevery Dailey; Jaycee, Easton and Maddox Rehbein; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
