Norma Jean Burr, age 84, passed away in Shenandoah, IA on June 21, 2016.

Norma was born in Bondurant, IA on January 26, 1932 to Cora and Charles McVey. She attended school in Oakgrove, Fremont Township and Faith School in Knox Township.

Norma was above all a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed running Poor People's Paradise with Merrill, sewing (especially baby doll clothes for her children and grandchildren), quilting, baking pies, and singing with her family. Throughout the years, Norma had many different jobs, but the ones she liked the most involved helping others. She was a school bus driver in Red Oak, IA and worked at West Central Development in Shenandoah, IA.

Norma married Leonard Stubbs on September 18, 1948 In Taos, NM. Norma married her second husband, Merrill Burr on November 24, 1980 in Glenwood, IA.

Norma is survived by significant other, Merrill Burr and children: Cindy LaFollette, Mickie Jones, Diana Miller, Richard Stubbs, Julie Warrick, Beverly Hotzel, and Toni Sparr, step children: Steve Stevens, Sandy Kuester, Eddie Burr, 30 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and siblings: Darrell McVey, Bob McVey, Max McVey, Gary McVey, Truman McVey, Phyllis Welcher, and Darlene Harlan, and God daughter: Anna Dawn Hutt. She was preceded in death by husband: Leonard Stubbs, parents: Charles and Cora McVey, daughters: Carol Jean Stubbs and Jennie Geasland, sister: Carmen Neer, brothers: Eldon McVey, Charles (Chuck) McVey, grandchildren: Jordon Hotzel, Jason Miller, Malia Stubbs, step grandchildren: CJ Almquist, God grandson: Payton Casteel.

Celebration of life gathering will be held 1:00 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Coin Community Center, 506 Depot St., Coin, IA.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Burial of cremains will be held at a later date.
