Norma Jean (Gale) Smith was born on May 24, 1928, in Tabor, Iowa, the daughter of William H. and Iona M. (Dustin) Gale. Norma entered into eternal peace on Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Gardenview Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa.
Jean's early years were spent in the communities of Sidney and Tabor. On August 12, 1947 she was united in marriage to Francis Smith in Clarinda, Iowa. The couple made their home in Shenandoah.
Jean worked as a bookkeeper for Shenandoah Agri Services until her retirement and also for Jones Plumbing. She enjoyed crocheting and working on jigsaw puzzles in her spare time.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Francis; brothers Elmer, Guy and Ralph; and sisters Hazel, Mildred, Louise and Rosalee.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Sandi K. Smith of Shenandoah, IA; son Mike Smith and wife Connie of Greeley, CO; granddaughter Kristi Laws Smith; great-granddaughter Teagan Laws Smith; brothers Earl Gale and wife Bonnie of Dunlap, IA and Harold Gale and wife Betty of Shenandoah; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
