Mildred L. Harris, daughter of George S. and Agatha C. (Steinhauser) Zirfas, was born August 27, 1931 in Bedford, Iowa. She passed away October 12, 2014 at her home in Shenandoah, Iowa. She was 83 years old.

Mildred grew up in Clyde, Missouri area before moving to Tarkio, Missouri. She graduated from Tarkio High School. She was united in marriage to John A. Harris on September 15, 1951 in Tarkio, Missouri.

Mildred worked for Mid-Way Caf, Henry Field, Tyler's Bottling Company. In 1975 she started In Home Day Care.

Mildred was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made afghans for all the grandkids and great-grand kids.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband John Harris, parents, brothers Donald, James, Joe, Clarence, and Robert Zirfas, sisters Agnes Burmania and Joyce Gibson son-in-law Gary Williams, niece Janet Madison, nephews Randy Zirfas and Larry Zirfas, brother in law Leroy Harris and his daughter Linda Harris.

Mildred is survived by her daughter Jackie Williams of Essex, grandchildren Treavor (Mellissa) Hodge and, Stacy Jones and Richard Hodge, great-grandchildren Courtney and Caden Hodge, Tucker and Caitlyn Jones, Chloe and Brody Hodge, sisters Mary (John) Smith of Ft. Scott, KS, Veronica (Jim) Lorimor of Imogene, brother Charles (Pam) Zirfas of Springfield, MO, sister-in-law Sue Zirfas of Shenandoah, brothers-in-law William Gibson of Shenandoah, Robert Harris and Kenneth Harris, Jr., step-granddaughter Chasidy (John) Roberts and their daughter Jazmyne, step-grandson Gary Dean Williams, Jr. and his children Ethan Williams and Felecia (Daniel) Monson and their son Daniel, Jr., numerous nieces, newphes, other family and friends.

Memorials are being established.

Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah.
