On February 22, 1957 at the Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa, a son Michael Donovan was born to Donald and Barbara (Cutter) Teachout. Mike was blessed to be part of a family that included three other siblings; Chris, Melisa and George. Throughout his life he never wandered far from his home on "Teachout Road" in Shenandoah. It was in this town that he attended school, joined FFA and graduated from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1975.
On March 9, 1979 he was united in marriage to his best friend and life long companion, Shari Wiesen at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shenandoah. Mike farmed, worked for Honeywell American Meter Company, Larson Motors and was a Correctional Officer at the Clarinda Correctional Facility at the time of his passing. He enjoyed his work and the many friendships he established. Mike was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Fremont County 4-H Board where he enjoyed dedicating his extra time.
Hunting, fishing, gardening, swimming and hanging out at the pool with family and friends were all treasured times. He was a loving husband, dedicated father and proud grandpa. He always enjoyed making people laugh and putting a smile on someone's face. He touched many lives and it is because of this, that he will always be remembered in the hearts and minds of those who were blessed to call him a friend.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents LaVerne and Hazel Cutter and George and Gladys Teachout; father Donald Teachout and his grandsons, who I'm sure he's teaching to fish Joshua and Ryan Laumann. Those left to love him from afar include his mother Barb Teachout; wife of 41 years Shari Teachout; daughters Nicki (Bennett) Blane, Jessica Teachout (Alan Zahller) and Stacy (Jessie) Laumann; grandchildren Michael and Addison Blane and Jarrod Zahller; siblings Chris (Kay) Teachout, Melisa (Larry) Forbes and George Teachout; other relatives and a host of friends.
