Michael William McKinnon, son of Marcus Hugh and Jami DiAnn (Thompson) McKinnon, was born on January 8, 2003, in Omaha, Nebraska. He passed away on Friday, January 20, 2006, at his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Michael's early life was spent in Omaha until he was a year old. At that time, the family moved to Oklahoma for his Daddy's new job. Michael loved music and his videos. Barney and Sesame Street were his favorites. He enjoyed playing with trucks, doors and his yellow bus. He loved his dog, Luke, and his bear "Blue". Michael and Jami were active in a few "Mom's" groups, the January Snowflakes, PAK at Faithful Shepherd Presbyterian Church and Tulsa Mom's.
"He always had a smile to share as we had fun going to the zoo and mall often. Michael was very ticklish and we laughed most days and nights with him." Michael was affectionately referred to as "Our Sugar Bear", "Our January Snowflake" and "Mr. Wiggles" by his parents.
Preceding Michael in death were his great grandparents, Ivan McKinnon and Kenneth and Mary Thompson; uncle, Jeremy McKinnon; and aunts, Terri Berry and Judy Johnson. Michael is survived by his parents, Marcus and Jami McKinnon and brother, Matthew McKinnon, of Broken Arrow, OK; grandparents, Richard and Joy Thompson of Shenandoah, IA, Vicki and David Kyle and Larry McKinnon, all of Tarkio, MO; great grandparents, William "Bill" and Marjy Johnson of Shenandoah, IA, William and Luella Lassen of Council Bluffs, IA, and Mary McKinnon of Shenandoah, IA; uncle, Chad Thompson of Shenandoah, IA; aunt, Melissa Fletcher of Tarkio, MO; God parents, Jason Riley of St. Joseph, MO and Jannelle Anderson of Douglas, WY; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the Tarkio Presbyterian Church in Tarkio, Missouri. Words of comfort were given by the Rev. Darin Seaman. Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah.
