Michael Gene Flynn, a loving father, cherished grandfather, and proud veteran, peacefully departed from this world on July 12, 2023, at his home in Shenandoah, Iowa, at the age of 76. Born on July 2, 1947, in Shenandoah, Iowa, he was the son of Cecil and Emma "Maxine" Flynn.

Mike, as he was fondly known, was a graduate of Shenandoah Community High School, where he completed his education in 1965. With a strong sense of duty and knowing the call to serve his country, he enlisted in the Navy in 1967. Mike underwent rigorous training as a Dental Technician in Quantico, Virginia. He served his nation with great pride until his honorable discharge in 1972. During the tumultuous years of the Vietnam War, he courageously worked as a Navy Medical Corpsman within the U.S. Marine Corps Unit, diligently distributing pharmaceutical and medical supplies.

Following his military service, Mike embarked on a career at the Eaton Corporation, dedicating his talents and efforts to the company until his retirement.

Throughout his life, Mike possessed an adventurous spirit and a need for speed. He found great joy in racing motorcycles and stock cars, embracing the thrill and excitement they brought him.

Mike's legacy lives on through his loving children. He is survived by his son, Shawn Flynn, and daughter, Natalie (Flynn) Rockwell, along with their respective spouses, Heather Flynn and Tim Rockwell. His two beloved grandchildren, AJ and Nora Flynn, were a source of immense pride and joy for him. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous extended family members who were all touched by his presence.

Mike is also survived by his sister Sharon (Flynn) Riley and her husband Jerry, who were not only family but lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Maxine Flynn, as well as his brothers, Patrick and Danny Flynn.

Visitation to honor Michael Gene Flynn's life will be held on Tuesday, July 18, at the Wabash Memorial Chapel from 5-7 pm, providing an opportunity for family and friends to offer their condolences and support during this difficult time.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 19, at 10:30 am at the Wabash Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery. Minister Jack Langley will preside over the ceremony, guiding the gathering in celebrating Mike's life and offering comfort to the family and many friends who mourn his loss.

In the hearts of those who knew him, Mike will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his country, his love for his family and friends, and his passion for racing. His warm smile, kind heart, and adventurous spirit will forever remain a cherished part of the lives he touched. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory serve as a reminder of a life well-lived and deeply loved.
