Mary Helen Snyder Howell, the daughter of Neal and Thelma (Gamble) Snyder, was born in rural Coin, Iowa on February 7, 1935 and entered into rest on December 31, 2016 at the Brookstone Village in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 81.

Mary Helen was raised in rural Coin, attended country school, later attending Coin High School graduating from the class of 1953. She was active in sports especially basketball, her team went to Iowa girls basketball playoffs.

Mary Helen loved horses throughout her life time she was a member of the Rough Riders in her young years, but enjoyed horses all of her life.

After graduation she worked for Tidy House in Shenandoah later moving to Omaha where she was a grain buyer for Con Agra Foods until her retirement. She enjoyed any kind of sports especially basketball and women's volleyball. She was a avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Through the years she volunteered for many things in the Omaha area, and went to many political forums and enjoyed getting together with fellow retired Con Agra employees. On November 6, 1971 she was united in marriage to Richard Norman "Dick" Howell , in Coin, Iowa. Dick passed away November 2, 2011.

Mary Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a infant brother William E. Snyder. Survivors include many cousins and a host of friends.

Services will be held at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11 a.m.

Visitation with the family will be from 7 - 8 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at the Polsley Cemetery in rural Yorktown, Iowa.
