Mary Rosalyn Bowman, youngest daughter of Frederick Lee and Mabel Catherine Charlotte (Houston) Fisher, was born September 5, 1928 in Page County, Iowa. She passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska.
Mary grew up on the family farm in North Page County. She attended school at the North Page Country School and graduated from Villisca High School in 1946.
Mary was united in marriage to Kenneth Wayne Bowman on June 16, 1946 at the Villisca Methodist Church. To this union three wonderful children were born; Kenneth Duane, Deborah Marie and Dana Lee Ann. The family had lived in several communities in Southwest Iowa including Nodaway, Red Oak, Malvern and Shenandoah.
Mary worked for Murphy's Calendar Factory in Red Oak, Weekly Times in Shenandoah and as a Housekeeper. She loved to dance, word searches, playing cards and being with her grandchildren.
Mary was very active with her church, schools and community. She loved to be a helpmate with all Ken's activities. She loved helping others and making new friends. If Mary could help it, no one was ever a stranger. She worked for neighbors, friends and people since the age of 11.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Wayne Bowman (2005), two brothers Vernon E. Fisher and Donald H. Fisher, two sisters Ruth M. Brownlee and husband James and Eva L. Moyer and husband Pete, sisters-in-law Bertha L. Fisher and Wylma Fisher, brother-in-law Delbert Hicks.
Mary will be sadly missed by her son Kenneth Duane Bowman of Shenandoah, two daughters Deborah Marie Bobbitt and husband Gary of Fremont, Nebraska and Dana Lee Ann Koso and husband Tony of Shenandoah, three grandchildren Jamison Levi Detrick, Jackson Lane Kenneth Koso and Jaydin Kennedy Koso all of Shenandoah, many nieces and nephews, other relative and a host of friends.
Mary's favorite quote was "A smile is like an echo, it comes back to you."
Celebration of life funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, November 18, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah, Iowa.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah.
Burial will be held at the North Page Cemetery in rural Villisca, Iowa.
Memorial may be directed to the family.
