Marvin Dale Savage son of Pearl and Lula (Cooksey) Savage was born on November 12, 1931 in Kildare, OK. Marvin entered into eternal peace on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah at the age of 92 years.
When Marvin was 3 the family of six moved to Bedford, Iowa where his father worked on WPA, when he was killed in an accident in 1935. The family continued to live in Bedford where he attended school and graduated from Bedford High School with the Class of 1952. In May of 1953 Marvin enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany after his training as a telegrapher. He was honorably discharged in May of 1955.
Marvin began working at Cuthay Meat Packing Plant in Bedford from 1955 until 1957. He then worked road construction while attending school in Charles City for linotype. After school he began working at the Nebraska City News Press from 1961-1966. In 1966 he moved to Shenandoah and began work with Farm Master until 1977. His final career move then came when he began work at Eatons as a machinist where he worked until his retirement in May of 1989. Marvin enjoyed model trains, was a member of the First Christian Church in Shenandoah. and was also a member of the Shenandoah American Legion Post #88.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
