Marjorie Lee (Christensen) Scharp, daughter of Orville and Elizabeth (Hensleigh) Christensen, was born on April 9, 1933 at Northboro, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Shenandoah Medical Center at the age of 82.

Her early life was spent growing up in the Northboro Community, where she attended the Northboro Community Schools, graduating from Northboro High School with the Class of 1951.

On December 2, 1951, Marjorie was united in marriage to the love of her life, William Scharp, at Northboro. To this union two sons, Jerry and Dennis were born. Following their marriage they made their home in Shenandoah, where they have resided for the past 63 years.

Marge worked for a time at Earl May's in Shenandoah, but most of her working career was spent working in the family business along with Bill and Jerry at Shenandoah Sanitation. She was the office manager for 20 years before retiring.

She was a member of the Nishna Valley Saddle Club for many years and taught Sunday School at the Congregational Church for many years. Horses were a big part of her life. She was a member of the Northboro Rough Riders trick riding team and passed that love of horses on to her boys. She thoroughly enjoyed getting the boys and their horses ready for the many shows they attended. She loved her buddy, "Boots", her Boston Terrier.

Preceding Marge in death were her parents; brother, Wesley Christensen and sister-in-law, Beth Christensen; and mother and father-in-law, Alice and Ivan Scharp. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, William Scharp of Shenandoah; two sons, Jerry Scharp and wife Vicki of Shenandoah, and Dennis Scharp and Amy of Omaha, NE; sister, Helen Holmes and husband Gene of Essex; sister-in-law, Delores Carlson and husband Carroll of Shenandoah; three grandchildren, Christi Slater and husband Ryan, Kati Cullin and husband Kyle and T. J. Scharp, all of Shenandoah; seven great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.


Memorials will be established at a later date.

Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah, Iowa.
