Marjorie Louise Broughton was born on January 23, 1927 in Riverton, Iowa, the daughter of Wiley Ellis and Bertha Frank (Irwin) Broughton. Marjorie entered into eternal rest on June 25, 2026 at her home in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Her early years were spent in the community of Riverton where she attended school.  She graduated from Riverton High School with the Class of 1944.  She was united in marriage to Thomas Max Keys and to this union, two daughters were born Shirley and Jennifer.  The family farmed and Marjorie was always proud to drive her combine and help out wherever she was needed.  She was definitely not afraid of hard farm work!  Thomas passed away unexpectedly in 1979.    She also enjoyed working at several local ladies dress shops.  She loved putting together outfits and helping the ladies with their fashion needs.  Other jobs she held throughout the years included working as a nurses aide and also as a school nurse in Nebraska City.    She worked full time until she was 76 years old.

Marjorie had a beautiful voice!  She sang in the St. Cecilia's Choir for over 30 years.  She also sang for hundreds of weddings and funerals.  She  enjoyed gardening and canning.  Attending various family gatherings, birthday parties and sporting events of her grandchildren and greats brought her much joy.    In 2005 she was united in marriage to Howard McQueen.   They were blessed with  many happy years together until his passing in 2013.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Jennifer Utecht, a sister Mary Putnam; brother Donald Broughton; husbands Thomas Keys and Howard McQueen; step-daughter Joyce McQueen Ward and grandson Vernon Thrasher.  Those left to honor her memory include her daughter Shirley Thrasher and husband Kenny; grandchildren Colleen, Connie, Crissy, Michael, Rick, Tom, Rogerlee, Tina and John; 27 great-grandchildren; 38 great-great grandchildren;  4 great-great-great grandchildren with 2 additional on the way; step-children J.F.
