Marjorie Maxine (Owen) Alexander, daughter of Matthew Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Gardener) Owen, was born on July 25, 1935 in Hamburg, Iowa. She entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, at the age of 79.

Her early life was spent growing up in Hamburg in the neighborhood they called Militia Holler. She attended the Hamburg Schools. In 1949, Marjorie moved to Shenandoah, Iowa, where she met Ruffes Alexander. On July 21, 1951, Marjorie was united marriage to Ruffes in Hamburg. Following their marriage they resided in Essex, Iowa. To this union seven children were born: Michael, Steve, Dave, Charles, Deb, Susan and Marsha.

Marjorie was a loving homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Nazarene Church for many years, worshiping in both the Shenandoah and Red Oak Nazarene churches, most recently attending the Shenandoah Nazarene Church. She had also attended the Congregational Church of Christ in Farragut. Collecting angels and John Wayne keepsakes brought her much joy.

Preceding Marjorie in death were her parents; four sisters, Goldie, Mabel, Betty Lou and Wanda; four brothers, Ralph, Charles, Junior and Carl; a grandson, William Joseph Hughes; Ruffes Alexander; and a God son, Michael Simmerman.

Survivors include her four sons, Michael Alexander and wife Sandra of Blanchard, IA, Steve Alexander and Tricia of Shenandoah, IA, Dave Alexander of Essex, IA, and Charles Alexander and Amy of Glenwood, IA; three daughters, Deb Alexander of Essex, IA, Susan Tysor and Rick Akers of Shenandoah, IA, and Marsha Tysor and husband Bill of Odebolt, IA; 19 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; special friend, Frank Briggs of Farragut, IA; other relatives and many friends.

Memorials are being directed to the family. Burial will be in the Essex Cemetery.
