Marilynn Taylor Gee was born on April 11, 1923 in Shields, TX, the daughter of Eugene and Jamie Clyde (Sheffield) Taylor. Lynn entered into the arms of her Lord on Saturday, March 24, 2012 in Shenandoah, Iowa.
Lynn grew up with 6 siblings in "The Valley" of Texas. She graduated from high school following the completion of the 11th grade. She then attended Durham Business School in Austin in 1940.
It was her beloved Aunt Maddie who introduced her to John Gee, who was stationed at Moore Field Air Force Base. The couple was united in marriage on January 18, 1946. In an effort to assist the war effort, Lynn and her friend Dorothy traveled to Washington State to work on a "top secret" job. She later found out her work would be related to the Atomic Bomb! After the war, She and John returned to Iowa where they resided on a farm west of Shenandoah. They later moved into town to their home on Clarinda Avenue.
Lynn's first job was as a secretary in Austin, Texas. After her marriage to John she was a stay at home mom, caring for her boys and husband. Lynn later worked for Elm Heights Care Center as its' activities coordinator, retiring after 18 years of service. After retirement she volunteered countless hours giving back to her community at Meals on Wheels and Hospice.
Lynn thoroughly enjoyed sharing her love of family and traveling all over to see them. She especially enjoyed returning home to "The Valley" and attending the Bluegrass festivals in Arkansas. While at home she was passionate about sharing her gifts of sewing, gardening, walking and being healthy. She had a very strong faith and was very active in her church through Presbyterian Woman. She also enjoyed being part of PEO, Chapter JA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John W. Gee; son Greg J. Gee; and siblings Galvond, Jack, Dorothy and Vida Mae.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Gary T. Gee and wife Patti of Shenandoah and Gil N. Gee and wife Kim of Farragut; Greg's wife Mary Kay Gee of Clifton Park, NY; grandchildren, Heather Gee-Wood, Andrew Gee, Wesley Gee, John Robert Gee, Jasmyn Walker, Haleigh Gee, Taylor Gee, Allison Lyman, A. J Lyman and Jason Lyman; great-grandchildren Hannah Wood, Mitchell Wood, Kinzlee Potratz and Avery Lynn Gee; two brothers, Rev. Billy Taylor and Wes Taylor; other relatives and friends.
Lynn always felt "Rich" with the love from her family, friends, and faith..........but she always said "I Love You More." Shalom
