Marie Lucille Wise was born on July 24, 1936 in Hamburg, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Sylvia (Nixon) Wise. Marie entered into eternal peace on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Glen Haven Village in Glenwood.
Marie's early years were spent in the Hamburg Community. It was here that she graduated high school. Marie had a remarkable career with Brown's Shoe Fit in Shenandoah. She served as an accounts payable clerk for over 60 years. She was the first woman inducted to the Brown's Shoe Fit Hall of Fame for her years of service and dedication. Brown's President, Steve Ruzek said it best in a newspaper article recognizing her 60 years: "Marie brings so much to the table every day. Loyalty, faithfulness, honesty, organization, thoughtfulness and unselfishness are all traits that Marie practices every day. She is truly one of a kind and someone we should all take a lesson from."
Marie loved spoiling and spending time with her grandchildren and attending all of their events. Her favorite color was red! She loved to laugh and was a true and loyal friend. She enjoyed being active, dancing, listening to and singing music.
She was welcomed into her eternal home by her parents; infant twin sons, Terry & Larry Swanson and brother-in-law Carol "Art" Belle. Those left to honor her memory include her children Kelle Cline of Council Bluffs and Steve (Deanne) Swanson of Milledgeville, GA; grandsons Andrew Swanson of Hayden, CO, Nathaniel (Marci) Swanson of Dublin, GA, Jacob Swanson and Joshua Swanson both of Milledgeville, GA, and Austin and Brandon Cline both of Council Bluffs; great-granddaughter Kaidence Swanson of Dublin, GA; sister Darlene Belle of Sandy, OR; nieces Debbie (Mark) McCarty of Estacada, OR, Tammy (Randall) Johnson of Sandy, OR and Terri (Bill) Bissett of Alexandria, MN; special friend Dale Dankof of Shenandoah; other relatives and a host of friends.
